about me

Who am I?

My name is Amir (pronounced uh-meer), and I am an industrial designer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am originally from Tabriz, Iran.

I went on to study Industrial Design in college where I fell in love with product design. After graduation, I worked at furniture, custom product design firms for 5 years.

Then, in 2015, I moved to the US to study Master of Industrial Design at Arizona State University. Immediately after graduation, I joined the R&D team at Vintage Industrial LLC., a local custom furniture design and fabrication company located in Phoenix in 2017.

And since 2020, I have joined the ID team at Lifetime Products Inc.

Design with Responsibility

I believe the industrial designer’s job is not just merely limited to the design of objects. The behavior is what a designer ultimately creates. The designer is responsible; not only for the users’ behavior but how the product itself would communicate with the context through its life-cycle from prefabrication stages like the material selection up to the ecological impacts of the product after it is dead.

Other things about me

  • As a self-learner designer and thanks to the online open-source tutorials, I have been able to expand my 3D visualization skills and taught myself how to work with Solidworks, 3dsMax, Maya, Rhino, Keyshot, V-Ray, and Substance Painter.

  • I have been in love with three approaches of culture, emotion, and sustainability in design approaches since the beginning of my journey in design. I have been following the implementation of emotion and culture in products designed by Philippe Starck and Karim Rashid, and I am fascinated by how Benjamin Hubert has illustrated sustainability in his designs.

  • Music, street photography, and Leather-craft are my passions.
